English Essay Writing

What is an essay? An essay is a short composition for treatment of a particular topic in a methodical and orderly . Etymologically , it means an attempt to express one's mind about a given object. Dr. Johnson , the famous literary essayist , defines it as " a loose out of mind, an irregular and disorderly composition . " Walker thinks of it as a short essay , incomplete and unsystematic. Bacon defined as " ' dispersed meditations " . An essay can be written on any subject. Can be moody or logical , auto ¬ biography or satirical, very imaginative or playful .

Types of Trials

Trials are generally divided into six categories , namely :
( A) Narrative
( B ) Description
( C) reflective
( D ) Presentation
( E) Argumentative
( F ) Imaginative .
This division is useful as long as it takes account of these divisions are not unique , and that there are no trials involving more characteristics of a class instance , a narrative essay can contain a large amount of description, and a trial May contain descriptive him most of the reflection.

Essays Narrative :

A narrative essay is the story of an event or series of events . Composition narrative can be on topics such as the following .
( I ) Incidents ( for example, a street fight , a festival , a marriage ) .
( Ii ) Any accident or natural disaster (eg , fire , a river in flood , etc. )
( Iii ) A trip or journey
( Iv ) a trip or ride
( V ) Biographies (eg , the life of Quaid -e- Azam and Allama Iqbal )
(vi ) A real or imaginary story .

Descriptive Essay :

An assay may involve descriptive description of a place or thing . Descriptive composition can try to topics such as:
( I ) The animals , plants , metals , etc. ( like the lion , cow , iron , gold ) .
( Ii ) the cities , buildings, etc. , of all types ( for example, my city , museums , bridges ) .
( Iii ) aspects and phenomena of nature ( such as monsoons , a waterfall, a moonlit night )
( Iv ) Articles ( motor vehicles , radio , television) manufactured .
( V ) Sketches character.
Description of favorite books.

Trials of reflection:

A reflective essay is thoughtful about something, which is generally reflective nature abstract composition can be about issues like tracking :
( I ) The habits , feelings and capabilities ( such as saving , discipline , patriotism ) .
( Ii ) the social, political and national (such wealth and poverty ,
education , democracy and the cooperative system ) .
( Iii ) philosophical matters ( such as morality , justice , virtue,
meaning and purpose of life ) .
( Iv ) religious and theological topics (such as the power of prayer,
soul).

Expository essays :

An expository essay consists of position or explanation of some issues . Topics for expository essays include:
1. Institution , industries , professions (eg Parliament, the press , cottage
2 . industries , the sugar industry, ¬ garden , photography , electroplating , etc).
3 . Scientific topics (eg , wireless , telephone , radio , astronomy , etc. )
4 . Literary themes (eg , the nature of poetry , ¬ appreciation of a novel or a play , the appreciation of an author , the Romantic movement ) .
5 . The quotes or sayings (eg , " The child is father to the man." "Time is money, " Honesty " is the best policy ."

Argumentative Essays :

In an argumentative essay is necessary for the writer to give their arguments for and against the proposition. Argumentative essays topics are:
( I ) Who is more useful for the country - the soldier or teacher ?
( Ii ) Who is more useful for the country - the soldier or teacher ?
( Iii ) Is war justifiable?

Imaginative Essays :

In an imaginative essay writer has ample room for imagination. When writing this type of essay must be placed in a position that has not had actual experience. Topics for imaginative composition are:
( I ) If I were the Prime Minister,
( Ii ) The autobiography of a horse
( Iii ) The Adventures of a rupee .
How to write an essay?
The following tips are useful when writing an essay :
1. Spend at least ten minutes for the understanding of the subject . Plan the first trial .
2 . Think about it , to ideas about come to mind . Write down the various points on a sheet of paper.
3 . Leave the plan. Organize and group your ideas into different areas . Reject the points that are unfit ¬ able .
4 . Arrange these heads in outline .
5 . Collect material to suit your ideas and complete their
outline .
6 . Now start writing the essay , dividing it into paragraphs. Try to make each paragraph as clear , well-ordered and complete as possible. Remember that a point is a small trial , and you can not write a good essay unless you can write a good paragraph that is itself a compact whole . Moreover, all these paragraphs must be linked in such a way as to make him test an organic unity.
7 . The essay should consist of introduction, body and conclusion. Conclusion .

9. Maintaining test parts in proper proportion . Do not fill the body of the essay with the relevant substance .

11 . Adapt to your style with the topic. Be simple and sincere in what you write. Be clear and brief. Be interesting as well as the point. Do not write what you do not understand . Make your sentences short . Avoid writing long and complicated sentences . Make lively and readable essay .
12. Resist the temptation to wander around from the point . No room for the introduction of material in a short test irrelevant .

Writing Style

You should try to write the entire essay in a simple , direct and forceful. To get this you must pay attention to the following points : -
1. Be careful with the use of a word or phrase in the meaning and application of which you do not fully understand . Many writers like to use what they call " good words " , whose meaning is not known . The use of such words leads to silly mistakes .
2 . Beware of using too many adjectives . Some people have a misconception that the abundant use of superlatives makes stronger statements .
3 . Rather, the use of too many adjectives spoils the overall effect of the trial.
4 . Do not try to air their knowledge through the use of a word or phrase longer than a shorter and simpler would express the meaning more effectively.
5 . Avoid using unnecessary words . In reviewing his essay find duplication and redundant expressions , and beat mercilessly.
6 . They strive to select the words and phrases that express exactly the ideas you have in mind. Frame your sentences so they seem pretty clear and forceful .
7 . Let your words are consistent with the direction , and his style suits the subject. In other words , the words and phrases should be chosen and arranged to fit the topic under discussion. A serious topic should not be treated in a light style or humorous nor should a bright subject and funny treated in a heavy style .
8 . Adhere to the main idea of the test to the extent possible. Make sure your thoughts are not far from the main theme of your essay. For example , if asked to write an essay on " country living " , avoid unnecessary housing in detail about the various points related to " the life of the people. "
9. Be clear in what you write. Do not allow others to guess your meaning. Search the clearest way to express each idea. Prefer the concrete word to the abstract.
10 . Be direct : use short sentences in preference to long and complicated.
11. Be simple: do not try to write in a flowery langu ¬ age. Avoid the use of metaphors . Shun catch phrases and big words . Use simple words and constructions .
12. Be varied : do not each sentence of the same length and the same construction . No excess of words .

13. Be natural : do not try to imitate the style of another . Be yourself . Saying things his way.
